Update
We are aware that the proposed development at South West Cambridge has not been included in the Councils’ preliminary proposals for the Greater Cambridge Local Plan. The list of sites included in the ‘Preferred Options’ document is not final and further consultation is due to take place in November and December 2021, and beyond. We will continue to make representations to relevant bodies to make our case for a new sustainable community at South West Cambridge, which has the potential to deliver much-needed housing, including affordable housing, adjacent to the burgeoning West Cambridge employment area, alongside extensive green infrastructure and community facilities.
The Vision for South West Cambridge has been prepared by a consortium of landowners comprising Corpus Christi College, Downing College, Jesus College, St. John’s College and the University of Cambridge.
This website explains how we believe that a high-quality new neighbourhood can be created at land to the South West of the City. It will help to deliver the new homes that Cambridge and South Cambridge need in a landscape-led community, enhancing local heritage assets and biodiversity. It is also a highly sustainable location, providing easy access to the centre of Cambridge by walking, cycling and public transport.

Cambridge City Council and South Cambridgeshire District Council are collaborating on a Greater Cambridge Local Plan. This is a technical document that will guide where development will take place across the region for the next 20 years. The Councils have commenced their Call for Sites – a process which identifies land that has potential to be developed and included in the Local Plan. Through this process, individuals, landowners and developers in Cambridge and South Cambridgeshire were encouraged to submit potential sites to the Councils for consideration.

As part of the Call for Sites process, we have submitted the site at South West Cambridge, a new neighbourhood that could deliver between 2,500 and 2,800 homes.
Our thoughts for this site have been devised around the seven key principles outlined in the Greater Cambridge Local Plan document. We have reimagined these principles and created five themes which will act as the basis for our vision: Homes, Sustainability, Green Spaces, Placemaking and Connectivity.
This landscape-led settlement will be centred around green spaces, making up 55% of the site. It will open up the land for public enjoyment and provide easy access to the surrounding countryside.
