Green Spaces

Currently there is room to improve public access to the countryside around the city. Our proposals will open up these areas to both existing and new residents, creating a green corridor between Cambridge City Centre and the rural outlying villages. Green spaces will underpin the whole development, with 55% of the site retained as open space.

A new linear park on the western edge could act as a buffer between residential areas and the existing rural landscape.  One of the key natural assets of this location is Bin Brook, a small river that cuts across the site. Our masterplan has been designed with this wonderful feature in mind – we’ve included a water meadow that will act as a rich biodiverse open space. This will not only function as a flood mitigation measure, but will also support existing wildlife and act as a recreational space.

In addition to the focus on Bin Brook, across other parts of the site, hedgerows will be retained, and new woodland will complement the existing copse.

Green spaces are integral to wellbeing and healthy living. In our vision, we’ve focused on providing new outdoor spaces for people of all ages and needs to enjoy. Throughout the site, there would be a connected network of paths and gardens of different sizes and characters, all linked by walking and cycling routes. New residents will benefit from sports pitches, multiple parks for walking and cycling, children’s play areas, woodland and community allotments.
