The Masterplan for South West Cambridge has been designed to support a sustainable, mixed-use community. It will deliver high-quality buildings and landscapes, recognising the important role this proposed development will play in supporting the long-term future of Cambridge.
Providing between 2,500 and 2,800 high-quality new homes, with a range of housing types, densities and tenures, including affordable housing.
Maximising the highly sustainable location, accessible by walking, cycling and public transport. Pedestrians and cyclists would be prioritised over car users.
Significant amount of accessible green infrastructure, including open spaces and parks, sports pitches, green corridors and meadows. 55% of the site will be greenspace.
Green infrastructure would connect Cambridge with the countryside and Coton Countryside Reserve. This would provide improved access for all.
Deliver community facilities such as a primary school, community centre, health centre, public square and a local centre with food store, for new and existing residents.
Achieve net biodiversity gains, with the creation of a variety of habitat types. This will include wooded areas, wetland habitats and an introduction of new plant life across the site.
Sustainable measures taken to help meet Cambridge City Council’s climate change targets. This will include things such as water recycling and solar panels.
