Connectivity

We believe this site is the place to promote active and sustainable travel. Taking advantage of the site’s location, we want to enhance existing connections between the city and surrounding villages.

Cambridge City and South Cambridgeshire Councils are committed to promoting sustainable travel and our proposals closely align with this ambition. The site is already well-served by cycle and bus routes, providing convenient access to the city centre and places of work. New residents will have access to at least five bus routes, reducing the need for car travel.

In addition, a new network of footpaths running throughout the site will further improve accessibility, with the city and all it has to offer just a 25-minute walk away.

A key development in the vicinity of the site is the West Cambridge Employment area, where works began a few years ago. The scheme will facilitate the continued development of the regional economy by supporting vital industry including academia, technology and innovation. Further intensification of the site is planned, taking the total number of jobs to around 14,000.

Future residents of South West Cambridge will therefore benefit from the wealth of employment opportunities on their doorstep, both in West Cambridge and in the city centre.
